October 9, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Health, safety, and quality education are our priorities. Richmond High School will be temporarily moving to distance learning to protect the health of our students and staff per our Return to Learn Plan published in August 2020. Potential reopening of traditional (in-person) classes will be November 2. The reopening date will be reevaluated prior to November 2, 2020.

This decision was based on positive COVID-19 cases, exposure to positive COVID-19 cases, and symptomatic students at Richmond High School. The health and safety of our students and staff must come first. We are working with the Ray County Health Department to investigate the cases and are consulting published guidance from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and CDC.

Dear Elementary, Sunrise Elementary, and Richmond Middle School will continue to have traditional (in-person) classes. At this time there are no positive cases in these buildings.

Richmond High School will not hold in-person or virtual classes on Monday, October 12, 2020 while Richmond High School teachers are working to prepare for virtual learning.

Distance learning for Richmond High School will begin Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Students will be utilizing the Google Classroom platform for distance learning. More specific details will be sent out soon.

Students can participate in activities and athletics unless placed under quarantine by the Ray County Health Department. Activities and athletics will continue as scheduled by the Richmond School District.

Grab and go lunches for Richmond High School will be available starting Tuesday, October 13. Students will need to place orders by calling Richmond High School by 9:00 a.m. each day you plan to eat lunch.

Maintenance staff will continue to deep clean and sanitize all buildings.

As always, we will continue to keep the utmost regard for the health of our students, staff and community while making all educational decisions.

Sincerely,

Richmond Administrative Team
